School term dates and holidays

Please note in school time, your child is expected to attend unless they are unwell.

Taking holidays in school time is not a right, whilst the government state you are permitted absences in exceptional circumstance, these occasions have to be authorised by the head teacher, whom, is bound by the regulations set out by the DFE.

Currently any attendance that falls to 90% will be monitored by the school and attendance officer in the local authority. If attendance drops below 90% then this is deemed persistent absence (this is no more than 7 half days in any one half term).

This WILL result in attendance officer intervention.

Parents who make the decision to take children out of school for holidays in term time will be subjected to fines and if these are not paid then court proceedings will be instigated by the local authority on the academies behalf.
