Welcome to Rabbit class page

Rabbit Class is a mixed-age class of Reception and Year 1 children, taught by Miss Jamieson (Monday and Tuesday) and Miss Woodrow (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), supported by Mrs Wright and Mrs Drewery.

From the start of their time at Little Snoring Primary Academy we aim to make learning exciting and help to develop a love of learning.

This learning through experience continues from Reception through into Year 1, where our topics are designed to inspire and excite the children, enabling them to learn in a practical and fun way.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for Reception and the National Curriculum for Year 1. Within this learning there is scope to follow the children’s interests and incorporate child-led learning.

We have weekly outdoor learning lessons in the woods to support our teaching of a broader curriculum. We have an outside area to use just off the classroom which children have free access to during choosing time. This area often extends into our wider ground to broaden the opportunities for our children.

An important part of having a mixed-age class is the role the older children play in helping the younger children to settle in to the school environment; working and playing with others, sharing and learning with their friends.

We have high expectations of behaviour and learning and children rise to these suitably during their time in Rabbit Class. The children develop a good work ethic and are always striving to show their greatness.

A crucial part of life in our classroom is the interactive play-based learning. The children learn a huge range of concepts and skills through these carefully planned sessions.

We also use our daily Phonics to help the children develop a strong understanding of sounds and the letters connected to those sounds. This is the key to the development of their reading and writing. Hands-on activities also help the children's understanding of numbers to progress.

We feel that working alongside parents and carers is very important in order to provide the very best opportunities for the children we all serve.

We hope that all children whilst at our school will,

Have Faith, Flourish and Fly High!
